About the artist:

Maddie is a proud Wiradjuri and Torres Strait Islander descendant. Her artwork was inspired by her family experiences during the devastating bushfire season of 2019/2020. Combined with her experience and reflections about the COVID-19 pandemic, in particular the lockdown earlier this year, the shapes, colours and forms explore the feelings.

It is a powerful piece depicting the far-reaching effects of the devastating bushfire season this year as well as the compounding effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Maddie is an AIME mentee and participated in AIME’s artist in residence program in 2020.
